Critical Discourse Analysis of China in G7 Joint Communique: A Proximization Theory Perspective

Political discourse contains deep ideological implications and it has become more crucial in the current context to analyze political reveal ideologies. In recent years, proximization theory emerged as a new approach critical analysis. Based on Proximization theory, this study explores messages conveyed by three US presidents regarding China G7 joint communique. By analyzing communique issued during terms of Obama, Trump, Biden, reveals significant shift government’s positioning towards China: from "partner" Obama era "competitor" Trump Biden eras. The analysis based evolution government's attitudes exposes factors behind it.
